Card shower
Friends and family are requesting a card shower for Curtis “Pete” VanGundy who will celebrate his 96th birthday on April 16. Cards may be sent to him at the Emporia Rehabilitation Center, 221 W. Logan Ave., Emporia, KS 66801.
Corps plans workshop
The Tulsa District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be the host for a public information workshop from 6:30 to 8 p.m. April 17 at the Anderson building at the Lyon County Fairgrounds to inform the public and solicit comments and questions about the John Redmond Dam and Reservoir Watershed Feasibility Study. The Kansas Watershed Restoration and Protection Strategy (WRAPS) program will be included as part of the workshop.
Eggs and issues
An Eggs and Issues Forum will be held at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Annex (former Lyon County Courthouse), 402 Commercial St., with officials from the Lyon County Commission. All three commissioners have been invited to attend the public meeting and discuss county issues with interested citizens.
Coffee and rolls will be served from 8 to 8:30 a.m. The next forum will be May 5 at Mary Herbert Education Center, 1700 W. Seventh Ave.
