Emporia State tennis player Nathan Mai and runner Jonel Rossbach both earned MIAA player of the week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Mai, a 5-foot-11 junior from Ponca City, Okla., was 2-0 in No. 1 singles and also 2-0 in No. 1 doubles with partner Julian Rios in a pair of duals last week. Mai’s two victories against Truman resulted in the only Hornet points that day in the team’s 7-2 loss.
Rossbach, a 5-foot-7 junior from Omaha, Neb., provisionally qualified for Nationals with a time of 4:35.12 in the 1500-meter run. The mark was third-best in school history and also earned her fourth place at the Texas-Arlington Bobby Lane Invitational.
Rossbach has the sixth-fastest Division-II time in the 1500-meter run.
ESU fan appreciation days set for this week
