Betty Senn, who received a Big Thinker award from the Kansas Department of Commerce. Senn heads up the workforce center and the quarterly award is given to an outstanding employee.
• Flint Hills Technical College, which has awarded more than $46,000 in scholarships this semester. To qualify students must meet academic achievement and leadership.
• Eric McCabe who upset the world’s No. 1 ranked disc golfer, Barry Shultz, in a tournament in Carrollton, Texas. McCabe finished 47 under par and nine strokes ahead of Shultz.
• The Emporia High football team, now 3-1 in a turnaround season.
• Jack Cassell, who paid to fix the clock attached to the Bank of America. The clock has been broken for a decade.
• The Sunrise Rotary Club, which donated dictionaries to all third grade students in North and Southern Lyon County School district.
