Weekend accidents send seven People to hospitals

Seven people were taken to hospitals from Lyon County after weekend traffic accidents.
Six people were hurt in an accident in the 1700 block of Road E around 6:30 p.m. Saturday and taken to Newman Regional Health.
Three ambulances, a rescue vehicle and a shift commander vehicle were sent to the accident by the Emporia Fire Department.
A semi truck driven by Scott T. Handy, 48, of Kaukauna, Wis., was westbound on Highway 50 when it struck an extended-cab pick-up truck pulling onto the road from Road E.
This morning, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office said six people in the pickup were injured. All are from Emporia. They are: Melchor J. Pahuamba, 36: Maria Ramirez, Emporia, 63: Sandra Pahuamba, 11; Melchor Pahuamba Jr., 6; Iris Pahuamba, 4; and Fabolia Pahuamba, 5.
Their conditions were not available this morning.
An injury accident Sunday morning sent one woman to St. Francis hospital in Wichita Sunday.
Officers said that Nancy L. Cord, 68, of Eskridge was driving was northbound on North Highway 99 when her vehicle went off the road and landed in a field. According to the Lyon County Sheriff’s log, Cord was airlifted to St. Francis in Wichita.
Her condition was not available this morning.
