Friday Thoughts is a light-hearted commentary.
TOMORROW, after you have visited the Great American Flea Market, gone to the ESU game and swung by the fairgrounds for the tractor pull, you had better get home to let your dog out and give your four-legged friend a little attention. What better way to spend some quality time with your pooch than by taking him to the Aquatic Park for the Pooch Plunge?
It should be interesting to watch a couple hundred dogs overtake the pool. However, these are some things that I have been wondering:
• Do you have to make your dog wait 30 minutes after eating to swim?
• Do I have to try to put a diaper on my dog, or will they have special bathroom facilities?
• Will the concession stand be selling dog treats, or should we bring our own?
• Will they have the swim lanes up for dogs that just want to do laps?
• With the fall chill in the air, will the water be heated to 95 degrees?
• Do dogs using the slides have to accompanied by adult? Our dog is 80 pounds and she does not fit on my lap very well.
• Should I attempt to freshen my dog’s teeth before we come? You see, our Weimaraner is not a strong swimmer. There is a good chance lifeguards will have to rescue Abby from drowning and perform CPR, and right now her breath smells terrible.
