Two area men were taken to out-of-town hospitals after being injured Sunday in separate one-vehicle accidents.
David Pope, 42, of Hartford was driving east on Road 130 just east of Highway 99 when his 1976 Jeep went off the road and overturned, according to the Lyon County sheriff’s office report. The accident happened just after 7 a.m. Sunday.
Pope was taken by Lyon County ambulance to Newman Regional Health where he was evaluated and transferred to Stormont-Vail Regional Medical Center just after 8:30 a.m. This morning, officials at the Topeka hospital said Pope had been released.
On Sunday night, 30-year-old Shukri Mohamed of Emporia was headed east on Road 170 near Road E when his 1997 Oldsmobile left the road and struck a tree, deputies said. A Midwest LifeTeam helicopter ambulance took Mohamed to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. This morning, he was listed in fair condition.
