Donn Young, official photographer for the Port of New Orleans, lost his home, his studio, and more than one million photographs last year during Hurricane Katrina. After the disaster, Young documented the devastation of New Orleans and photographed the survivors and volunteers who are working to rebuild the city.
On Wednesday, Young will bring that documentation to Emporia in the form of a presentation, “Forty Days and Forty Nights,” at 7 p.m. in Heath Recital Hall in Beach Hall at Emporia State University.
The program is free and open to the public.
An exhibit by Young opened Oct. 26 in the Plumb Hall Rotunda at ESU and will run until Friday. Young will be the guest of honor at a reception from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. Wednesday in the Rotunda. The reception is open to the public to view the photographs and speak with the photographer.
