A fond farewell
Betty Rose

I CAN’T BEGIN to thank all my loved ones — friends, family, former co-workers — for all the love and support with cards, meals, visits, gifts and prayers during the past several weeks of my illness.
In 1944, I came as a wide-eyed freshman to Kansas State Teachers College. Little did I know that Emporia would be my home for more than 60 years. During this time, I experienced the love, generosity and concern of the wonderful people of this city.
With love and gratitude,
Betty Rose
Emporia
EDITOR’S NOTE: Betty Rose dictated this letter to her nurses last week. She died Thursday.

Betty was a neighbor of ours for 24 years and she will be greatly missed. She always was upbeat and positive and was very interested in the lives of who she came in contact with. Betty reflected God in her life.
