Joshua East was named Emporia Lions Club Student of the Month on Oct. 18, 2006. He is the son of Tim and Julie East.
East has participated in SADD, Model United Nations, Boy Scouts, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Early Morning Seminary, Emporia High School theater, International Thespian Conference and LDS Youth Conference. He has been vice president and president of SADD, vice president and president of Early Morning Seminary, secretary of Model U.N., president of Concert Choir, president of Chorale, president and concertmaster of Advanced Orchestra, concertmaster of District Orchestra, president of Deacon’s Quorum, president of Teacher’s Quorum and Boy Scout Patrol Leader.
He has had three roles in EHS theater productions and been a member of the cast of two productions; and received “1” ratings in regional string ensemble in advanced orchestra, state string ensemble, regional violin solo and state violin solo. In EHS select vocal groups, he has been in concert choir, chorale, viva voce, fall concert solo, regional vocal solo and regional and state vocal ensemble.
Awards and honors have included Student of the Quarter, the Charlie Spartan award for best up-and-coming actor and best actor in a musical, a theater letter, orchestra letter, choir letter, academic letter and honor roll. He has participated in the gifted program, Scholar’s Bowl and Boy’s State and soon will complete his requirements to become an Eagle Scout.
