- Lyon County State Bank, which organized bringing Jessica Horn to Emporia for a concert. The event is a fundraiser for ESU athletics. The event is Sunday, so get your tickets today. Call 341-NEST.
- Courtney George, who organized bringing the lieutenant governor debate to Emporia. The auditorium was full as people listened to Republican Susan Wagle and Democrat Mark Parkinson.
- Lindsey Hollond, who took first place in pole bending in the high-school rodeo competitions at the Lyon County Fairgrounds.
- The Emporia High School boys cross country team, which won a fifth straight regional title. Layne Moore won the individual girls title.
- Joy Sloat, who was chosen as Newman Regional Health’s employee of the year. Sloat has worked for the hospital for 17 years and was chosen from more than 50 nominees. Sloat received the honor for outstanding service.
- Stutler Technologies, which celebrated 10 years in business. The company has grown to 34 employees and does work in 35 states.
- Emporia Main Street, which received four Governors Awards of Excellence. The awards were for outstanding fund-raising event and image-building activity. Reebles Country Mart won the outstanding merchant award and former Emporia City Manager Steve Commons won the Main Street advocate award.
- Cory Falldine, Lindsey Unruh and Lori Mann, who received You Make a Difference awards from Emporia State University.
