A week of special activities are scheduled at the Americus School to celebrate Red Ribbon Week that began on Monday.
“Color My World Drug Free” will open with distribution of red ribbons, each of which will be marked with a number on the back side. Students will be encouraged to wear not only in recognition of the week’s purpose, but to be eligible for prize drawings that will be held daily.

On Tuesday, Red Ribbon pencils will be distributed. Student Council members will weave a message in the fence at the football field at 1:40 p.m. Each class also will hang decorations on classroom doors.
“Mister Ahs” will present the program at an assemblies that will be held in the gymnasium. The elementary assembly will begin at 12:45 p.m. and the middle school program will begin at 2:10 p.m. Red Ribbon suckers will be distributed at the end of the school day.
Special activities will end on Thursday with “Wear Red Day.” Students have been asked to BYOB (Bring Your Own Banana) to make banana splits. Each class has been scheduled to go to the lunchroom at separate times to make and eat the banana splits.
Stickers will be given to each student.
