Grandview community

The 2006 Grandview reunion was held at the Saffordville Community Building. After the meal, a memory-sharing time was enjoyed. Door prize winners were presented gift certificates.

Those attending were June and Phyllis Talkington of Matfield Green; Leila Nurnberg Merry and Brenda Davis Gehring of Olpe; and, from the Emporia and Grandview area were Dorothy Cook Fehr, Mary Cook Adkins, Don Cook, Claudean Cook Casida, Elsie Beyer Thomas, William Edie, Jack, Jolene and Melissa Edie, Dorothy Nurnberg, Jim and Peg Cooper, Howard and Karen Nurnberg, Justin, Ashley and Brook Nurnberg, Brad, Becky, Cody and Troy Conley, Frank and Carol Buffington, Kathy Swigert Mildward, Frank and Barbara Davis, Eric, Cheri and Andrew Parks, Brad and Debbie Davis, Jeannine North Cooper, Judith Tuxhorn Kewley, Scott and Bennie Gallmeister, Harley and Carla Patton and Dan Nurnberg.

The 2007 reunion also will be at the Saffordville building.

Rathke family

The descendants of John E. and Olga Mockry Rathke met at the Olpe Legion for a family reunion on Sept. 24. John and Olga married in 1907 and raised nine children on a farm southwest of Olpe. He died in 1928, “leaving Olga to take care of the farm and raise the children,” according to the reunion reporter. William Rathke and Olga Vahsholtz are the only two children still living.

Attending the reunion from out of state were Steve and Stanley Vahsholtz of Woodland Park, Colo.; John Rathke of Springfield, Mo.; Ben and Linda Rathke of Kimberling, Mo.; and David Hellen of Oklahoma City, Okla.

Those attending from Kansas were Dan and Diana Hellen of Topeka; Patricia Hartford of Fort Scott; Angela, Cassie, Dalton and Dustin Sayers of Ozawkie; Joyce Swift of Matfield Green; Holly and Josie Britain and Sandra, Gale, Laurele, Leonard, Greg and Katelynn Graham, all of Strong City; Gary and Donna Robinson of Reading; Diane and Rachel Lewman of Miller; Mark, Nancy, Hannah, Sarah and Joseph Robinson of Admire; Henry and Olga Vahsholtz and Larry and Hattie Rathke of Americus; William and Mildred Rathke of Olpe; and Betty J. Rathke, Mark and Janet Harrouff, Amanda Harrouff and Jeremiah Storrer, all of Emporia.

Todd family

Descendants of Robert and Margaret Middlemast Todd met Oct. 1, 2006. at the Community Building in Gridley for the 52nd annual Todd reunion. Children of Velma Todd Storrer were the hosts for this year’s gathering. The afternoon was spent enjoying a covered dish dinner, reminiscing and sharing pictures and childhood stories.

Gifts were presented to the youngest, Charlotte Holland, and oldest, Mary Margaret Smith, descendants present and to the family traveling the longest distance, Mary and Joye Elton of Sachse, Texas.

Others attending were Dick and Lucy Wagner of Emporia; Ron and Marilyn Storrer of Lebo; Amelia Springer of Topeka; Walt and Ella Storrer of Augusta; Willard and Linda Collin of Fredonia; Kim, Elizabeth, Emily, Maggie and Charlotte Holland of Overland Park; Ellen Iseman of Burlington; Charles and Marilyn Todd of Springhill; Mary Margaret Smith of Rose Hill; Kevin and Gwen Wellnitz of Neosho Rapids; Dick and Carole Wilson, Arlene, John and Leah Roberts, Susie and Christina Wilson and Dean and Eula Wilson, all of Hartford; and Jim and Fran Force, Darrell and Wilma Hess, Jonathan Hess, Johnnie and Retha Sleezer and Robert and Amanda Hoskins, all of Gridley.

The 53rd Todd Reunion will be held Oct. 7, 2007, at the Gridley Community Building, with the Don Roberts family serving as hosts.
