Game update final: Western 24, ESU 12

St. Joseph, Mo.--Emporia State takes on #16 Missouri Western on a cold and rainy day in St. Joseph, Mo.

ESU takes a 6-0 lead after Jake Richter blocks a Griffon punt and Seville Ko scores two plays later on a two yard run.

End of the first quarter ESU leads #16 MWSU 6-0. The Hornets have blocked two Griffon punts and Alex Otoo has an interception.

ESU's Jake Richter blocks a MWSU field goal attempt at the end of the half to preserve a 6-0 lead at the half. Mo. Western had five plays from the four yard line on the final drive before the blocked field goal.

Missouri Western took a 7-6 lead on a busted field goal play. ESU had blocked the attempt when MWSU picked it up and threw in the endzone for the lead.

MWSU goes up 10-6 on a 35 yard field goal with 9 seconds left in the third quarter.

Griffons go up 17-6 with 10:47 left in fourth quarter six plays following Ben Purkeypile interception.

Western tacks on another TD, but ESU responds with a two-yard touchdown pass from Purkeypile to Scott Schoenfeld.

After recovering an onside kick, ESU turns it over on downs. Western kneels once to run out the clock.
