The Emporia State soccer team suffered its worst loss in two years on Friday, falling 5-0 to Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Mo.
Hazel Cox started the Jennies’ scoring, putting in a shot from the middle of the penalty box in the 20th minute for a 1-0 advantage.
Central went on to score two goals in a 95-second stretch, as Kayla Jupp found the net in the 26th minute and Melanie Hall in the 27th.
Jupp added a second goal in the 33rd minute, and Madeline Baker finished off the Jennies’ scoring in the 50th minute, posting an unassisted goal for the only tally of the second half.
The loss was the Hornets’ second-worst in school history.
Central outshot ESU 15-2 in the first half and 26-8 overall.
The Hornets (3-11-1) will play their final road match of the season Sunday, taking on Truman in Kirksville, Mo.
