NLCYA community breakfast
The NLCYA Community Breakfast will be served from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the NLC Community Center, 108 E. Seventh St., in Allen. The menu includes freshly-cooked sausage, bacon, eggs, cinnamon rolls, breakfast burritos, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, fresh fruit, coffee and more.
Lebo United Methodist women breakfast
The Lebo United Methodist Women will have the annual breakfast and bazaar Saturday at the church fellowship hall. From 7 to 8:30 a.m., the Men’s Breakfast group will serve biscuits, sausage patties, sausage gravy, juice and coffee. The cinnamon roll, coffee bar and bazaar will open at 8:30 a.m. Bazaar booths will feature fall and Christmas decorations and ornaments, needlework, baked goods, handmade items and a men’s variety booth. At 11 a.m., lunch of soups, sandwiches, pies and coffee will be served. At 5 p.m., there will be a turkey-roast beef dinner with “all the trimmings” and pie. Proceeds will benefit local and area mission work sponsored by the UMW.
Dunlap United Methodist women dinner
The Dunlap United Methodist Women will have the annual roast beef “country” dinner from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the church fellowship hall. The meal will include roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, Jello salad, French bread, homemade pies, tea or coffee. There will be a Country Store with baked items, crafts and miscellaneous items for sale. Donations for the meal will be used for UMW projects.
Reading United Methodist Church Germanfest
The Reading United Methodist Church will serve a Germanfest and Annual Fall Quilt dinner at noon Sunday at the church. Traditional and sloppy-joe style bierocks, salads, apple dessert, ice cream and a beverage will be served at a cost of $5 each person. All food will be homemade by members of the Reading UMW. The handmade quilt will be given away after the meal.
Admire United Methodist Church fall dinner
The Admire United Methodist Church is having the annual Fall Harvest Dinner from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Sunday. The menu features ham balls, cheesy potatoes and fresh baked pies. Baked items also will be for sale. Free-will donations will be accepted for church projects.
A White Elephant Auction-Fundraiser to help with medical expenses for Sherri Harris will be held Sunday at the Branding Iron Saloon in Strong City, sponsored by local businesses. Food will be served from 5 to 7 p.m., after which the auction will be held, along with “good music.”
Emporia Area CROP Walk
The Emporia Area CROP Walk will be held Sunday. Registration is at 1 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church. A portion of the funds raised in the Emporia area will go to the local Salvation Army and the Rescue Mission of Emporia. Information: The Rev. Kelley Lackey, 342-1537.
ESU holds Cajun dinner
Emporia State University will hold its second annual Cajun Jubilation dinner Nov. 4 to raise money for Hurricane Katrina victims.
Dinner will be at 6 p.m. in the ESU Memorial Union’s Skyline Room. The menu will inlcude red beans and rice, crawfish etoufee, jambalya, boiled crawfish with potatoes, corn and sausage, seafood remoulade salad and hush puppies prepared by ESU chef Harol Jensen. Dessert will include King Cake and Bananas Foster. Beverages will be provided.
Tickets are $30 and may be purchased at the ID/ticket booth office in the memorial union or at the door. Proceeds go to a children’s recreation center in the greater New Orleans area. The event raised $3,053 last year.
