Fowler wedding anniversairy
Gene and Rosalie Fowler, who will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, request no gifts, just “your presence.” Their announcement was published in Monday’s Gazette.
State candidates in Emporia
Two state candidates will be in Emporia this week at Democrat headquarters, 1101 Commercial St.
Bonnie Sharp, who is running for Kansas Insurance Commissioner, will be at headquarters at 10 a.m. Friday.
Kansas Attorney General candidate Paul Morrison will hold a rally at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
Refreshments will be served and both events are open to the public.
Pharmacist of the year
This month former Emporian Jim Sterbenz was named 2006 Kansas Health-System Pharmacist of the Year by the Kansas Society of Health-System Pharmacists. The award was given at the organization’s annual meeting.
The award recognizes pharmacists who “excel in professional practice, education, and leadership.”
Sterbenz has been a clinical pharmacist at St. Francis Health Center for almost 15 years. He currently works in the St. Francis Joint Replacement Center.
