- Everyone who made last weekend lively with a barrage of festivals, including the organizers of Americus Days, the St. Joseph’s Fall Festival in Olpe and the William Allen White Children’s Book Award celebration.
- Rachel and Cheryl Farr, who are making a lot of dogs very happy and very pretty with their new Top Dog Salon.

- Emporia High’s girls tennis team, which will send five players to state this year.
