ESU presents

choir concert

The ESU Department of Music will present the Fall High School/ A Cappella Choir showcase at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church. General admission is $5; $4 for students and senior citizens. Information: 341-5431.

ESU benefit features marimba

The ESU Department of Music annual gala benefit, featuring guest artist Scott Herring, marimba, will be at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 28 in Heath Recital Hall. Herring was a department of music faculty member for three years. General admission is $10, with proceeds providing scholarship assistance. For more information, call 341-5431.

“Annie Get Your Gun”

Emporia State University’s 34th Annual Homecoming Scholarship Musical, “Annie Get Your Gun” with music and lyrics by Irving Berlin, revised by Peter Stone, will continue its run at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday in Albert Taylor Hall in Plumb Hall.

The show is suggested for all ages, except for children younger than six years of age.

Ticket prices are $15 for orchestra level seating; $12 for balcony level seating ($8 for ESU students). All seats are reserved. Proceeds are used to finance scholarships for ESU theater and music students. To reserve tickets, call 341-6378.

On display at ESU

“Measurements/Relationships,” a display by retired Emporia State University art professor Donald Perry is on display through Oct. 31 in Eppink Gallery of ESU King Hall.

The exhibit features samples of Perry’s abstract work from a 40-year artistic career. Information: ESU art department at 341-5246.

The annual Emporia State University faculty art exhibition opens Nov. 5 and runs through Dec. 10. The next non-faculty program will be “Paper Cuts: The Art of Contemporary Paper” which runs from Feb. 5 through March 2, 2007 and is sponsored by Exhibits USA, a division of Mid-America Arts Alliance, with the Kansas Arts Commission and the National Endowment for the Arts.
