• The Emporia School District will dismiss high school and middle schools at 2 p.m. Wednesday because of weather. Kindergarten through six classes will close 30 minutes early. All after-school or evening activities have been cancelled.

• Logos class Wednesday evening at Messiah Lutheran Church has been cancelled.

• The St. Andrew’s Day celebration at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church Wednesday evening has been canceled because of weather. There will not be a Eucharist or a dinner. The visit by Bishop Dean Wolfe has been canceled. Church members who do not care to risk the trip to have their photos taken at the church this afternoon or evening can have informal portraits made for the yearbook later at the church.

• Southern Lyon County schools -- Hartford, Olpe and Neosho Rapids -- will close Wednesday at 1 p.m. No activities will be held this evening.

• North Lyon County schools -- Admire, Americus, Reading and Northern Heights -- will close Wednesday at 1 p.m.

• Madison Elementary, Junior and Senior High Schools will close at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

• Schools in Strong City and Cottonwood Falls will dismiss Wednesday at 12:45 p.m.

• Kindergarten through 12 classes in Lebo and Waverly will close at 1:15 p.m. No after-school programs will be held.

• Schools in Council Grove will close two hours early today -- 1:10, 1:20, and 1:45 p.m. No after-school programs will be held.

• Highway 56 and the Lockerman Road were reported to have substantial amounts of ice.

• Sunflower Gymnastics will not have classes on Wednesday.

• The Newman Regional Health flu-shot clinic scheduled Wednesday evening has been postponed until Tuesday, Dec. 5th, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the east lobby of the hospital.
