Sixth grade feast
On Tuesday, sixth graders at Olpe Elementary treated family members to the annual sixth-grade feast. The students prepared side dishes and deserts to go along with taco salad.
The feast is the end of a unit on etiquette including table manners, proper introductions, table setting and preparing a recipe. Approximately 55 people attended.
Olpe High student council
Olpe High School’s student council remains busy. The Lyon County League Food drive will take place December 1-11. Boxes and containers will be located in area businesses, churches, and schools.
Get ready for Christmas
Santa will be at the Olpe City Hall December 9 from 2:30 to 5 p.m. to greet the children of the city and collect wish list. Also, the annual Christmas Light contest will be judged December 8. Awards to be given to first-, second, -and third-place finishers.
Kay Club toy drive
The Olpe High school Kay Club is sponsoring a toy drive through mid December. Drop boxes for the new and used toys are at Olpe High School and the elementary school.
Basketball begins
The Olpe High School boys and girls basketball teams will play their first games of the season November 31, and December 1-2 at the Osage City Tournament. Their first home games will be against Waverly December 8. The Olpe Junior High School boys and girls basketball teams’ next scheduled game is November 27 at Reading 4 p.m.
