Cooking classes

“The Lighthouse Keepers” group of the Friends in Faith has joined with the Salvation Army to present cooking classes on international foods.

The classes will be held every other Friday beginning Dec. 1, at the Salvation Army. Teachers will be volunteers from the community who can cook foods from other countries, according to Eswin Rios, Friends in Faith director.

Melvern homes tour

The Melvern PRIDE Committee has scheduled the Christmas Parade of Homes for 2 to 6 p.m. Dec. 3. The following homes are on the parade:  Robert and Lisa Litch, 2079 E. Hwy 31, Melvern; Joe and Shirley Lichtenauer, 34393 S. Berryton Rd., Melvern; and Mark and Judy Lacey, 2244 E. 325th, Melvern.

Tickets may be purchased in advance for $5 from Melvern Pride Members or at Melvern City Hall, the Whistle Stop Cafe, Lyndon State Bank-Melvern Branch, Main Street Barber Shop, Country Curl or the First National Bank of Kansas in Waverly. Tickets may also be purchased for $7.50 on the day of the tour at any of the homes on the tour. For information, call (785) 549-3376 or (785) 746-5671.
