Breanna Granado, 9, gave a gift of love Tuesday afternoon.
Granado, who is a fourth-grader at Village Elementary, donated her hair to Locks of Love in honor of her grandmother, Sharon Rhodes, who died of cancer when she was 3. Her hair was cut by the owner of Sensei Salon.
Breanna had been growing her hair out since she was 4. Tuesday afternoon, she got a new cut and style following her Locks of Love donation. Breanna watched silently as her hair was braided and snipped off shoulder length. She nodded her approval in the mirror after her hair was cut.
Jamie Rhodes, Breanna’s mother, said she’s proud of Breanna for her donation. She also talked about Breanna’s grandmother, Sharon Rhodes. Sharon Rhodes had a daycare and took care of lots of kids.
“She always helped everybody else,” Jamie Rhodes said. “She put everybody’s needs ahead of hers. She was very patient. Breanna was her first grandchild.”
