Open house at shop

An open house will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 24, at Ismerelda’s Antiques at 615 Main Street. A special feature will be a 10 percent discount on any purchase of $20 or more. The shop has an eclectic collection of items from glassware to vintage marbles. Many Christmas items will be on display, according to shop owner Chris Howard.

Antique tractors

The Flint Hills Antique Power Association Plow Day was considered a success after 30-acres were plowed by eight tractors and as many two and three bottom plows. There was a total of 22 bottoms. Club members taking part were: Cecil Cunningham, DC 17 Allis; Jason Gilliland, John Deere 630; Dale Grimsley, DeWayne Backhus and Byron Yeager, International Harvester Super H; Jim Haynes, International Harvester 200; Roy Van Sickle, Oliver 66; Gary Watts, WD Allis; Roy Kuhlmann, 620 John Deere; and Raymond Van Sickle, Oliver.

Basketball registration

Americus recreation basketball registration will be open for boys and girls in third, fourth and fifth grades until Dec. 1. Forms may be returned to the city office or to the Americus Grade School office. Community members interested in serving on the Recreation Organization board should send a letter of interest to P. O. Box 526, Americus.

City sewer project

King’s Construction Company from Oskaloosa, Kan., will be the main contractor for the sewer/lagoon project which will begin November 27.

New construction

Two new homes are under construction in Americus by E. M. Boyce and Dakota and Angela Patton.
