If you want a refund from the Emporia Recreation Commission, don’t wait too long.
The commission voted Monday to put a three-day limit on its refund policy. That means anyone wanting a credit or refund on a recreation activity has to ask for it by the third day the activity meets.
Refunds have been offered by the recreation commission since 1995, but without a time limit. Recently, Recreation Director Tom McEvoy said, that had led to some people asking for refunds months after an activity had ended.
In other action, the commission:
F Approved final reports for the year on the Trusler Sports Complex and the Jones Aquatic Center. Trusler lost $8,738 while the pool lost $6,788.
F Briefly discussed efforts toward a strategic plan. A group of 35 community members met earlier this month to share thoughts on the spaces and activities available for recreation. The next meeting will be in December and will include a discussion on how recreation is governed in Emporia.

Hi folks – the Marlin here. I changed dentists last week. That statement is as exciting as the story to which I am posting a comment.
On an unrelated topic, has anyone seen my quelching hat? We lost it near the hot dog stand last week while “change-fishing” (the old way (for HEAVY coin)). Also, I’m looking for a guy named Milton Cromwell. Apparently he and my wife Pearl have been seen gallivanting around town, behind my back; to say the least this makes the Marlin very upset.
