Today

The Emporia Chess Society meets from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Granada Coffee Company and from 1:30 to 4 p.m. every Saturday at Pyramid Pizza. All ages and skill levels are welcome, including children. There is no charge.

Tuesday

The Rotary Club meets at noon at the Emporia Country Club, 18th Avenue and Rural Street.

The Etude Club meets with Jan Smoots. Laura Schlobohm will talk about the Prison Ministry.

The Literary League meets with Mary Melhorn. Roll call will be “A Favorite Hobby.” Gwen Stutler will give the program, “Basket Weaving.” Members will bring gifts for veterans.

Single Adult Fellowship group meets at 6 p.m. every Tuesday Casa Ramos, 201 Commercial St., during November. Information: Sara, 342-5303.

The Kiwanis Club meets at 6:15 p.m. in the Commander’s Room at the American Legion, 2921 W. 12th Ave.

The Emporia Charter Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association meets at 6:30 p.m. after dinner at the Regency Gardens of the Best Western Hospitality House, 3021 W. Highway 50. The Emporia Model Railroad Club meets at 7:30 p.m. at 916 Arundel St. the last Thursday of each month. Those interested in model or prototype railroading are welcome to attend. Information: 343-8325.
