Once again, it’s time for the Emporia Arts Council to take a turn for the bazaar. And yes, that’s spelled correctly.
For the ninth straight year, the arts council is turning itself into a mini-marketplace for its holiday “Arts Gifts.” fund raiser. Each year, the event features the work of artists from all over the area, and some from completely outside it.
What kind of artists? Just about any kind. Past sales have included jewelry, oil painting, stained glass and even quilts made from denim jeans.
Sales begin Saturday, running from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Emporia Arts Council, 618 Mechanic St. All customers that day will get a 10 percent discount. On Monday, the arts council goes to normal prices and extended hours, staying open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays.
Arts Gifts will continue through Dec. 30.
