NEXT WEEK, family and friends will come together to celebrate Thanksgiving. We hope as people stop their busy lives to gather around their dinner tables that they will take time to be thankful. We also hope people will think of giving back to their community this holiday season.
The United Way is in the final stretch of their annual fundraising campaign to raise $600,000 for 25 local social service agencies in our community.
This campaign is worthwhile because it benefits so many people in our community, and the money raised stays in our community.
Last year national giving reached and all time high because the devastation of hurricane Katrina was played out in the media around the clock.
This year giving has been down. We understand that those horrific images are not bombarding us but we need to remember that we have people right here in our community in need of food, clothing and shelter just like those in New Orleans.
We have $140,000 dollars left to raise before Dec. 31.
This holiday season please consider giving back to your community by giving a donation the United Way campaign.
The agencies listed below and the people they help are counting on your donation this holiday season.
