ESU CB Stribling named 1st-team All-MIAA
Emporia State cornerback Brandon Stribling was honored as a member of the MIAA’s first-team defense, the conference announced on Tuesday.
The 6-foot-2 senior from Houston had 39 tackles, one interception and five blocked kicks for the Hornets this season. He was an honorable mention All-MIAA pick last year.
Offensive lineman Joel Griffiths and kick returner Ryan Hulings earned second-team conference honors for ESU.
Hulings also made honorable mention All-MIAA as a wide receiver, joined on that list by teammates El Ray Henry, Lucas Sullivan, A.J. Franklin, Junis McDowell and Jake Richter.
EHS’s Nichols selected 2nd-team all-state
Emporia High gymnast Tarra Nichols has been selected as a second-team all-state performer on the bars.
As Emporia High’s top performer in the bars all season long — the bars are Nichols’ favorite event — Nichols finished with an average score of 8.867 to earn the honor.
Nichols was the only Spartan to receive all-state honors this season.
