Bazil still pleased

Wednesday, November 8, 2006

Following an unsuccessful run to the first district Lyon County commission seat, Ken Bazil said there likely won’t be politics in his future but he feels he ran a good campaign.

“I think actually my grandkids and family are more in the future for me,” Bazil said this morning. “I’m not bitter about it (not winning). I’m kinda relieved actually.”

Bazil said he ran the election the way he wanted to and is happy with what he accomplished.

“I wanted to be very low-key,” Bazil said. “I feel like I accomplished a lot. We had probably one of the biggest voter turnouts. The people got out, and I see that they don’t want a change.”

Bazil advocated for the county special question — a five-member commission.

“When I was coming home last night and I knew how badly the proposition for the five commissioners was going, I knew I wasn’t going to win,” Bazil said.

Bazil said his one regret is that the ballot questions weren’t presented in a more positive way.

“What I wish is that we could have sat down and talked this out a lot more and brought out a lot more positives instead of making a bad deal about it,” he said. “It was almost a war, and I did not want to see that.”
