Roads open, close
The Lyon County road and bridge department reopened Road 120 between Road E and Road F on Tuesday afternoon.
Road 270 between Road T and Road U will be closed for a bridge replacement starting Thursday and will reopen around Dec. 29.
Free tour for vets
The William Allen White Community Partnership has declared Saturday a free day to tour the William Allen White House State Historic Site for all veterans and current military, Guard members and Reservists. The site at 10th Avenue and Exchange Street will be open from 9 a.m. through 5 p.m. with the last tour opportunity beginning at 4:30 p.m. The site will be closed Friday in observance of the government Veterans Day holiday.
Happy anniversary
The Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve and Flint Hills National Scenic Byway will celebrate their anniversaries at 1 p.m. Sunday in the historic limestone barn at the preserve. Refreshments will be served and the Tallgrass Express Band will perform. The Preserve is two miles north of Strong City on Kansas State Highway 177 (the Flint Hills National Scenic Byway).
