Grandson is Eagle

Tyler Enserro, sophomore student at Olathe South, received the rank of Eagle Scout during the Eagle Scout Court of Honor ceremony on Oct. 22 at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Olathe. His service project was to plan and execute the purchase and installation of a flagpole, including lighting and landscaping at the church.

He is the son of Greg and Pam Enserro of Olathe, the grandson of Dottie Enserro of Emporia and Mary Becker-Ervin of Junction City.

Students honored

Students from Emporia High School and a longtime alumni volunteer from Emporia will be honored Thursday by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and KU Endowment.

They are among 71 seniors from high schools in Chase, Coffey, Lyon and Morris counties who will be recognized for their academic achievements and named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 6:30 p.m. dinner program at Emporia State University’s Webb Lecture Hall.

Those honored include these students from Emporia High School: Rachael Bachman, Erik Calderon, Emilia Chiroy, Bethany Christiansen, Dena Church, McKenzie Cinelli, Ann Daugaard, Katherine Dorsey, Joshua East, Danielle Flanagin, Lacee Hanson, Amber Harrouff, Hallie Kretsinger, Tammie Ma, Katherine Moneymaker, Summer Naab, Jennifer Newell, Justin Prentiss, Gretchen Schreiber, Kyla Sheldon, Leslie Stanbrough, Whitney Stauffer, Stephanie Ternes, Tyler Thompson, Leah Torrens, Brea Waechter, Mary Yanik and Byron Yeager.

Polly Epting of Emporia will be presented a Mildred Clodfelter Alumni Award for her years of service in her community on behalf of the university.

Epting is a 1966 graduate of the KU School of Education. Since 1976, she has coordinated the Kansas Honors Program in Emporia. She has also served on the Miller Hall Alumni Advisory Board and Scholarship Committee and the KU Friends of the University committee for Coffey County.

Academic honors

Pittsburg State University has released the honor rolls for the 2006 summer session. Receiving All-A Academic Honors was Robyn Brown of Emporia, who is studying technical management.
