ESU fell behind 23-11 but responded with a 13-0 run to take the lead, 24-23. KSU went six minutes, 46 seconds without scoring.
The Wildcats scored the last four points of the half to take a lead into the break.
A three from MIchelle Stueve and pull-up jumper from Tegan Stuart gave ESU its first lead of the second half, 40-39.
After a timeout, Marlies Gipson and Kimberly Dietz hit consecutive shots to give the Wildcats a 43-40 advantage.
ESU responded with an 7-2 run, retaking the lead 47-45 with a Carolyn Dorsey putback.
KSU tied it at 51 with a Danielle Zanotti three, but ESU came back with an 8-2 run to regain a 59-53 advantage.
KSU capitalized on four free throws to tie it at 59. Stueve was fouled and hit both free throws to give ESU a 61-59 lead.
After a Gipson missed layup, Denisa Svarova grabbed the rebound and was fouled. She hit one of two free throws to push the lead back to three for the Lady Hornets.
Coggins missed two open threes, and Cassondra Boston grabbed the rebound for ESU. The guard hit two free throws to seal it.
In her first game, Boston has a game-high 21 points for the Lady Hornets. Stueve has 18 points.
