GOP watch party
Lyon County Republicans will hold an election watch party beginning at 7 p.m. Tuesday at party headquarters, 625 Commercial St. The gathering is open to all.
Election results will be posted and a big-screen television will be tuned to stations carrying election results.
Recycling open house
An open house is planned from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the Emporia Recycling Center, 3100 West South Ave.
Nina West of the National Resources Advisory Board said that NRAB members will be at the recycling center during open house to help recyclers and to give away snacks and other items.
The activity is part of America Recycles Week, West said.
The national America Recycles Day organization is encouraging people to “make a commitment to yourself to step up your recycling efforts over the next year in some way.”
People who visit the americarecyclesday.com web site may make that recycling commitment and become eligible to win a cruise for two to Alaska. No financial commitment or donation is required.
