An investigation into Emporia’s city government is edging toward closure.
County Attorney Marc Goodman said this morning that the Kansas Bureau of Investigation had provided supplemental information he had requested earlier this month in the ongoing investigation.
“I have that now, and I’ll be reviewing it,” Goodman said.
In late March of this year, Goodman requested the KBI begin the investigation into city government. Then-City Manager Steve Commons said at the time that city financial records had been requested as part of the investigation, and that those records were public information.
Goodman said that he had requested the investigation after being asked to look into “certain irregularities alleged to have occurred in city government.”
Goodman said he anticipates making a decision sometime next week.
