Bethel community supper
The annual Harvest Supper for the Bethel School House community will be held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Bethel School House. Each family is to take a side dish, a dessert and table service. The Pep and Progress Community Unit will provide the turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy and beverages.
Hoy in Melvern
Jim Hoy of Emporia will present program, “Boots and Stetsons, Kansas Cowboy.” at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Melvern Community Center.
The Kansas Humanities Council program is free, sponsored by the Melvern Community Pride and the Melvern Entre Nous Library Club.
Birthday reception
Phyllis Jacob will be the guest of honor at a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Neosho Rapids Senior Citizens building to celebrate her 90th birthday.
Red Ribbon winners
At the Red Ribbon Week gathering Monday, the following awards were presented: individual, Steve Haught; business, Gambino’s Pizza; and faith-based, Messiah Lutheran Church.
The winners of this year’s Red Ribbon essay contest are: Jose Izaguirre, son of Jose and Maria Izaguirre; Sean Richey, son of Glenda and Michael Richey; and Mark Kolmer, son of Steve Kolmer and Christine Gutierrez.
