For those who missed out on the “Art Gifts” sale before Christmas, don’t worry. There are nearly 12 months to catch up.
Starting in mid-January, the Emporia Arts Council will operate an art gifts store year-round. Items for sale will be displayed on the west side of the gallery, just inside the front door.
“We’re looking forward to having it open year-round, so it can give artists a chance to sell their work and so it can be a fund-raiser for the arts council,” Director Melissa Windsor said.
The store will observe the same hours as the arts council.
Traditionally, the Emporia Arts Council has only run the Art Gifts sale during the holiday season. This year, more than 50 local and regional artists were represented.
“This has been in the works for a while now,” Windsor said. “It’s an opportunity for people to have a place where they know they will find unique quality art work for sale.”
