New Year’s Eve in Emporia promises something for everyone, from a skating party for kids to parties for adults.
The Gazette has compiled a list of where to go for New Year’s Eve parties. Following is a sampling of what’s going on around Emporia:
ROLLERS, 701 GRAHAM ST.
Rollers is offering two parties for New Year’s Eve. One for children 12 and under from 1 to 3:30 p.m. The cost is $5 per person, which includes hats and horns for everyone and a giant balloon drop at 3 p.m.
Another party, for older children, is an all-night lock-in from 7:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. The cost is $20 per person which covers pizza at 10:30 p.m., doughnuts and juice at 5:30 a.m. and the giant balloon drop at midnight with lots of prizes. No blankets or pillows allowed. Children are not allowed to leave without a parent picking them up.

FLINT HILLS LANES, 1519 W. SIXTH AVE.
Flint Hills Lanes will have a New Year’s party from 8 p.m. to midnight on New Year’s Eve. The cost is $25 per person and includes pizza, salad and shoe rental. Reservations are requested but walk-ins will be accepted. Call 343-2695 for more information.
FRATERNAL ORDER OF THE EAGLES, 1130 E. NINTH AVE.
The Fraternal Order of the Eagles will have a New Year’s Eve party. Dining will be from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. featuring a prime rib dinner. Entertainment will be from 8:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. by Flinthills Audio. There will be party favors and champagne at midnight. The cost is $10 for the dance. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1980, 932 Graphic Arts Road
The Veterans of Foreign Wars will have a New Year’s Dance from 8:30 to 12:30 p.m. with Swingin’ Country. The cost is $15 for a single ticket and $25 a couple. Call 342-9864.
Hippies and Harleys, 10 W. Eighth Ave.
Hippies and Harleys will give away two Las Vegas vacations with $500 complimentary tickets for each vacation. Individuals must be present to win. There will be food, champagne and party favors. My Place Too will have the rock band, Shot in the Dark, from 10 p.m. New Year’s Eve. There will be a $5 cover charge and champagne at midnight. Call 343-2929.
J Mo’s Place, 518 Commercial St.
J Mo’s Place will have a DJ and karoke starting at 8 p.m. There will be a cover charge of $3 at the door. The cover charge includes a free bottle of champagne, party favors and food. When the bar closes at 2 a.m., there will be biscuits and gravy.
Coach’s, 2702 W. 15th Ave.
Coach’s will have a special on beer and burgers. The Sunday night special for burgers is buy one get the second one half price.
Desperado’s, 802 Graham St.
Desperado’s will have a New Year’s Eve party with a band, The Heath Delany Band, starting at 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. There will be a large balloon drop at midnight and prizes and horns will be given out. There also will be dance contests.
Beer:30, 402 Merchant St.
Beer:30 will have a $3 cover charge for 21 and over and $5 cover for minors. They will have $3.50 Jaeger bombs; $2 wells; $1.50 draws; $1 house shots; 50 cent Jell-O shots; and free champagne after midnight. For more information call 342-7630.
