Sales tax receipts in Emporia rose slightly in 2006 from the previous year, according to information released Tuesday afternoon by the city of Emporia.
Interim City Manager Mark Mc- Anarney said that the city this week had received its 12th and final sales-tax payment from the state for the year 2006.
The payment boosted Emporia’s receipts for the year to $4,032, 694.71, compared to last year’s total of $3,997,182.11, a difference of $35,512.60 or .89 percent.
“It’s just up basically one percent. It’s holding even,” McAnarney said. “We all hoped for a little bit better, because it helps everybody.”
The receipts represent the proceeds of a one-cent sales tax that includes one-half cent for industrial development and one-half cent for street and sidewalk improvements.
