Last call for 2006 vehicle tags
Thursday is the last day that the Lyon County Motor Vehicle office will be open in the year 2006. This will be the last day for people whose last names begin with the letters U,X,Y and Z to renew their vehicle registrations without a penalty. The office hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Proof of insurance is required to complete transactions.
Emergency food and shelter board
The Lyon County Emergency Food and Shelter Board will meet at 2 p.m. Jan. 9 at the Amend Girl Scout Center, 12th Avenue and Burlingame Road, to discuss the Federal Emergency Food and Shelter Program Phase 24 allocation of $19, 556 to Lyon County. United Way of the Flint Hills will administer the allocation process. The meeting is open to the public.
Organizations in Lyon County which provide emergency food and/or shelter to recipients in Lyon County are qualified to apply prior to the meeting by contacting the United Way of the Flint Hills Office, 342-7564. Requests will be heard at the meeting and allocations will be made to non-profit and government food and shelter agencies during the meeting.
Closure
The Flint Hills Community Health Center will be closed for inventory from 8 to 10 a.m. on Friday. The center will open to the public at 10 a.m. and will operate until 5 p.m.
