The body of a Quenemo woman reported missing on Dec. 9 has been recovered east of Quenemo, according to information from the Osage County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities have ruled the death of the woman a homicide after receiving the coroner’s report. The body of Tonie Standley, 47, was discovered about 7:35 a.m. Friday in Franklin County, approximately one-half mile east of the Osage-Franklin county line. Hunters found the body and notified the 911 communications center at the Osage County Sheriff’s Office.
An autopsy was to be conducted Friday afternoon.
The Osage and Franklin county sheriff’s offices will conduct a joint investigation into the case.
Standley was last seen on Dec. 7 at her home in Quenemo. She was described as being 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing 150 pounds. She had blue eyes, straight brown hair to the middle of her back and wore glassess.
