The three Emporia attorneys vying to succeed Lyon County District Judge John Sanderson will meet with the Gov. Kathleen Sebelius on Wednesday.
Sanderson announced his retirement earlier this year.
The applicants for the position are Jeffry J. Larson, Rodney Symmonds and Blaise Plummer. The three were recommended by the Fifth Judicial District Nominating Commission which conducted the interviews for the position, which includes Chase and Lyon Counties.
Sebelius has until Friday to make her decision on who will be the next judge. Nicole Corcoran, of the governor’s office, said the governor will make her decision on or before Friday.
“I am not certain when at this point,” Corcoran said in an e-mail to The Gazette.
