The Emporia High School Chapter of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) was represented last month at the 2006 National Cluster Meeting in St. Louis , Mo. Three EHS students and their chapter advisers were among more than 5,000 members who attended. The conference theme was LOL: Live Out Loud.
EHS students attending were Blair Tucker, Anna Perez and Sandra Navarro, according to adviser Lynette Yevak. Yevak and Tabitha Peterson accompanied the students as the chapter advisers.
Yevak said the conference was inspiring as well as fun. “We heard from nationally recognized speakers as well as chapter members from across the country as they learned more about the organization and opportunities for the future,” she said. “By meeting members from across the state and nation, we picked up ideas for projects and activities that can be used in our school and community.”
FCCLA is a student organization for young men and women in family and consumer sciences education. The purpose is to promote personal growth and leadership development through family and consumer sciences education.
