Chase county Community trail bids to be taken

Work began last month on Phase 1 of the Chase County Community Connection Trail between Cottonwood Falls and Strong City, and bids soon will be taken for Phase 2.
The trail will be a safe route for pedestrians and bicylists traveling between the two towns. Funding has been raised through private donations and grants, said Mike Schmidt of Strong City, a member of the trail committee.
The trail begins at the bridge at the north end of Broadway Street in Cottonwood Falls and runs through Strong City.
Some sidewalks that will be part of the trail in Strong City already have been repaired or replaced, and ADA ramps already have been installed.
The 1.68 acres involved in right-of-way for the trail were purchased through eminent domain this fall.
