Emporia Police are continuing their investigation in the death of 21-year-old Jacob Adam Horn who was found dead early Sunday morning near the train tracks in the 200 block of Sylvan Street.
According to Deputy Chief Mike Williams, police received a call at 2:50 a.m. of a body laying alongside the railroad tracks just west of the 200 block of Sylvan Street. When officers arrived they found Horn, of 818 Sylvan St. Horn was pronounced dead at the scene.
BNSF told The Associated Press that a crew aboard a train that was dropping off cars as it headed from Los Angeles to New York discovered Horn’s body. He was found between a main track and what is called a “yard track,” which BNSF spokesman Steve Forsberg likened to a parking lot.
“My understanding is the body had not been run over but had some trauma to the head,” Forsberg said.
