THE USD 253 OFFICE is next to The Gazette, so we like to keep a close eye on their activities. As I have written about in years past, during the summer it can be hard to observe the goings on because some of the weeds in front of the building can reach almost 4 feet tall.
But this year, it appears the school district has turned over a new leaf because there are no skyscraper weeds dotting its landscape. I commend this new look because it has helped spruce up the neighborhood.
Since the neighborhood is looking better, I thought I’d better check around The Gazette’s buildings to make sure things were in shape. I was shocked to see a weed standing almost 3 feet tall — right under my window.
I have no idea how the Gazette’s grounds crew could miss something like this, but I have a suspicion that someone next door must be transplanting their super weeds to our side of the property line.
