SCRANTON
William Leslie Hubbard of Scranton died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2006, at Midland Hospice in Topeka. He was 101.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Overbrook. The family will meet friends at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the church.
Mr. Hubbard is survived by three daughters, one of whom, Marjean McMurphey, lives in Reading; two stepdaughters; a stepson; 24 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.

NEWTON
Emporia native Lee M. Davis died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2006, at his home in Newton. He was 89.
Mr. Davis retired in 1976 as a foreman for the Santa Fe Railroad.
The son of Herbie Allen and Grace Berger Davis, he was born March 15, 1917, in Emporia. He married Ruth Hickox on June 25, 1939, in Osage City. She survives.
Mr. Davis attended the Eastside United Methodist Church in Newton. He was a member of the Emporia Masonic Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star and the Wichita Consistory.
He is also survived by one son, Lee M. Davis Jr. of Newton; one sister, Marjorie Huber of Topeka; and two grandchildren.
The service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Restlawn Gardens of Memory in Newton. The family will meet friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the Petersen Funeral Home in Newton.
Memorial contributions to the Caring Hands Humane Society may be sent in care of the funeral home, 215 N. Main St., Newton, KS 67114.
SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS
Former Americus resident Cora Nelle Shepard Muller of San Antonio, Texas, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006. She was 78.
The daughter of Lawrence and Alpha Shepard, she was born Jan. 11, 1928, at Emporia. She graduated from Americus High School.
She married Leroy C. Muller of Americus in 1949.
Mrs. Muller worked for Hall Brothers Card Company (Hallmark Cards) in Emporia for 10 years. Wherever she and her family lived, she always worked with the Cub Scouts and in her churches. She was secretary at Wellington Place Baptist in Wichita, Del Norte Baptist in Albuquerque, N.M. and the First Park Hills Baptist in San Antonio, Texas. She also was an pianist and organist.
She is survived by her husband; one son, Lee Muller of Americus; and five grandchildren.
The graveside service will be later in Americus.

The funeral for Dean Marsh, 727 Arundel St., will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church. The Rev. Bob Colerick will conduct the service. Burial, with military services conducted by Emporia Masonic Lodge 12, A.F.&A.M., American Legion Ball-McColm Post 5 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Lowry-Funston Post 1980, will be at Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
The family suggests that, instead of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Shriner’s Mini-T Unit, First Christian Church Building Fund or the Shrine Hospital and sent in care of the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, P.O. Box 175, Emporia, KS 66801.
Mr. Marsh died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2006, at his home. He was 93.
He worked for the Santa Fe Railway for 35 years, first as a fireman and then as an engineer. He retired Sept. 18, 1980. Earlier, he worked for the U.S. Government on flood control. He joined the Army in 1943 and served in five campaigns in the European Theater during World War II. He was discharged from the U.S. Army in 1945.
The son of Royal Bertrum and Grace E. McCaslin Marsh, he was born July 7, 1913, in Chanute. He graduated from Chanute High School in 1932.
He married Imegene Hammer on Dec. 11, 1946 in Emporia. She survives.
Mr. Marsh was a member of the First Christian Church. He also was a member of Masonic Lodge 12, Knights Templar, Scottish Rite Bodies of Topeka, KCCH of the Scottish Rite, Arab Shrine temple of Topeka, VFW Post 1980, American Legion Post 5 and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, United Transportation Union.
He was Mini-T director emeritus, having organized the Mini-T Unit in 1971 serving as director for 30 years, and Chief Camel Herder Emeritus of the Arab Temple. He was a member of the Order of the Quetzalcoatl of Arab Temple and a past member of the Arab Shrine Foot Patrol.
He was past president of the Emporia Masonic Railroad Club, Neosho Valley Shrine and Central States Association of the Shrine Motor Corps. He received the Arab Shrine Temple Noble of the Year Award in 1989. In 1967, Mr. Marsh received permission from the Santa Fe Railroad to have a special train to take the Emporia children to the Shrine Circus in Topeka. He was the engineer on this train, which was an annual event until Amtrak took over the passenger service.
Mr. Marsh is also survived by several nieces and nephews; and two cousins in Emporia, Evelyn Forren and Leota Clogston. A brother, Harold Marsh, died earlier.
