Emporia, Kans. The formation of a Kansas Health Choice Network was the talk of the Flint Hills Community Health Center’s board meeting Tuesday afternoon.
Lougene Marsh, executive director of the FHCHC, said that the center is looking at forming a network among several community health centers in the Kansas Area.
“We’ll have a Kansas network and join a larger network in Florida,” Marsh said. The network in Florida would include Florida, New Mexico and Utah. “It’s all about integration of information technology services and financial services.”
Marsh said the groups would share the same practice management system and the same financial accounting system.
“That doesn’t mean our financial stuff is mixed up with other centers,” Marsh said.
She added that the centers would be using the same software, which will be based in Florida.
“We would gain a lot of efficiencies in our billing and our financial services,” Marsh said. “But we’ve got to get there. One of the first steps is forming a Kansas network. Our board is very supportive and wants to be a part of it.”
No specific date has been nailed down for the formation of the Kansas network.
