KSHSAA

Athletes from seven area schools will take their talents to the KSHSAA State Track and Field Championships to be held at Wichita State’s Cessna Stadium beginning Friday.

Olpe

Friday’s festivities begin at 7:45 a.m. with Macy Smith and Nolan Redeker running in the finals of the 1A girls and boys 3,200-meter race.

Smith will also run in the prelims of the 300-meter hurdles at 11:10 a.m. and will be in the finals of the 1,600-meter run at 1:20 p.m. Saturday.

Carter Cox will be in three running prelims. He’ll start his meet in the 300-meter hurdles at 11:35 a.m. and then will sprint in the 200-meter dash at 12:25 p.m. He’ll attempt to qualify for the finals in the 100-meter dash at 9 a.m. Saturday.

Carrie Sleezer is in two throwing events. She’ll throw the shot put at 11:30 a.m. Friday and the discus at 3 p.m. Saturday.

The girls’ 4x800-meter relay will be in the finals that are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The boys’ 4x800m relay team will follow at 11:40 a.m.

Marley Heins is in the finals of the 800-meter run that’ll take place at 5:05 p.m. Saturday.

Max Blaufuss will participate in the javelin at 1:15 p.m. Friday.

Redeker will also run in the 1,600m at 2:05 p.m. Saturday alongside teammate Camden Hoelting.

Hoelting is in the finals of the 800m, which will take place at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

Lebo

Lebo will have two athletes in three events.

Kyle Reese will be in the pole vault at 11:30 a.m. Friday and the long jump at 1:15 p.m. Saturday.

Abby Peek will participate in the pole vault at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

Madison/Hamilton

Casey Helm will be the Bulldogs’ first participant in this year’s meet as he’ll throw in the discus at 9:45 a.m. Friday.

The boys’ 4x100m relay team will attempt to qualify for the finals at 10:05 a.m. Friday.

George Gonzalez is the prelims of the 300-meter hurdles, which will take place at 11:35 a.m. Friday.

The boys’ 4x400m relay team will look for a spot in Saturday’s finals at 1:15 p.m. Friday.

Emily and Reese Farrow are in the high jump, which is slated for 11:30 a.m. Friday.

Sydney Talkington will be in the shot put at 11:30 a.m. Friday.

Nasun Wasson will sprint in the prelims of the 100-meter dash at 9 a.m. Saturday.

Kelton Beuttner is the sole Hamilton athlete at state, but will be in four events.

His meet starts at 8 a.m. Friday in the high jump, then will sprint to the track for the 110-meter hurdle prelims and 9:20 a.m. and then will get back to the runway and participate in the triple jump at 9:45 a.m. He’ll compete in the long jump at 1:15 p.m. Saturday.

Northern Heights

The Wildcats will have participants in seven events of this year’s meet.

Kaley Boyce and Tee Preisner will be the first Wildcats in this year’s meet as they’ll compete in the high jump and shot put, respectively, at 8 a.m. Friday.

Trey Rathke will kick things off on the track in the prelims of the 110m hurdles at 9:20 a.m. Friday.

Tanner Boyce will take to the track in two running prelims — the 400m and 200m — at 10:45 a.m. and 12:20 p.m. Friday.

The boys’ 4x800m are in the finals that are scheduled for 11:40 a.m. Saturday.

Khylee Massey will throw the discus at 9:45 a.m. Saturday.

Council Grove

The Council Grove track and field teams will begin their events on Friday with Tucker Day in the shot put at 9:45 a.m. and at 9:50 a.m. with the girls’ 4x100m relay team running in the prelims.

Lauren Reddick will be in the high jump at 11:30 a.m. Friday.

Lauren Carlson is in the sprints — 100m and 200m. The 200m prelims are slated for 12:20 p.m. Friday and the 100m prelims are scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Saturday.

The girls’ 4x400m relay has the top time in Class 3A and will run in the prelims at 1:15 p.m.

Day will enter the discus ring at 8 a.m. Saturday, while Abbi Good and Darian Julian will head to the long jump runway at that time and Hadyn Bieling will compete in the high jump.

Chase County

The Bulldogs are sending 14 athletes to the state meet.

Braydon Schroer will kick things off at 8 a.m. Friday in the high jump.

Tanner Koch is in the prelims of the 110m hurdles that are scheduled for a 9:20 a.m. start.

At 9:45 a.m., the girls’ 4x100m relay team will look for a spot in Saturday’s finals.

Maya Eidman looks to qualify for the finals in the 400m at 10:25 a.m.

The girls’ 4x400m relay team takes the track in the prelims at 12:45 p.m.

Makenzie Higgs looks for a spot in the 100m finals at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.

The girls’ 4x800m relay will run at 10:30 a.m. with the boys to follow at 11:40 a.m.

Cory Johnson is slated to run in the 800m at 5:30 p.m.
