Emporia High senior Gentry Scheve finished fifth in the age-17 flight of the Kansas Junior Amateur Golf Championships held in Wellington, which ended on Thursday.
Scheve shot a 225 with a best score of 72, which he completed in round one. He finished round two with a 75 and shot a 77 in his final round. In the overall competition, Scheve’s scores were good for a tie for 14th.
Chase County’s Justin Kohlman shot a 257 in the age-18 flight, good for 17th. He shot rounds of 84, 81 and 92 to complete his three-day total. Kohlman’s score was placed him in a tie for 71st overall.
Emporia High senior Caleb Schmid finished in 26th in the age-17 flight, though he missed the cut after round two. Schmid shot rounds of 82 and 84 for a 166.
