DODGE CITY — The West team won the 46th Kansas Shrine Bowl over the east team, 26-7, Saturday night.

Maize’s Caleb Grill was named the West MVP, while Jack Roberts of Shawnee Mission South earned MVP honors for the East team.

West took a 6-0 lead in the first quarter on a 19-yard pass from Great Bend’s Koy Brack to McPherson’s Gabe Hoover.

It added onto its lead in the second quarter on a pair of passing touchdowns from Grill. He found Phillipsburg’s Trey Sides for a 13-yard strike and then darted a pass that was hauled in by Larry Wilson of Valley Center for a 17-yard score.

East got on the board in the third with a five-yard run by Roberts.

Salina Central’s Taylon Peters put the final touches on the game with a 13-yard scramble in the fourth quarter.

Olpe’s Blaine Hinrichs recorded four carries for nine yards on offense for the East squad.
